Description

Soft, spiced flatbreads made with fresh spinach, whole wheat flour, and traditional Gujarati seasonings. Ideal for breakfast, lunch, or travel.

Ingredient

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough

In a large bowl, mix wheat flour, chopped spinach, yogurt, spices, and sesame seeds. Add oil and knead into a soft, pliable dough using water as needed. Let it rest for 10 minutes.

Dough should not be too sticky.
  1. Roll the Theplas

Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each into a smooth ball. Flatten slightly and roll into 6–7 inch diameter circles using a rolling pin on a lightly floured surface.

  1. Cook the Theplas

Heat a tawa or skillet over medium heat. Place the rolled thepla on the tawa, cook for 30 seconds, then flip. Apply oil or ghee lightly on both sides and cook until golden brown spots appear.

  1. Serve and Store

Serve hot with pickle, yogurt, or chutney. Store cooled theplas in an airtight container if using later.

Great for lunchboxes or travel snacks.
